Recent Artwork: Charcoal Study and Paintings

It has been a while since I have updated my blog. I have been focusing my attention on landscapes for an upcoming show, but I decided to do a charcoal drawing of one of Michelangelo’s works. I also want to make a series of smaller paintings, similar to the Night at the Beach painting below. I have a few shows coming up and I want to make my art available to those who cannot afford or do not have space for larger paintings.  Something I have also been doing is catching up on some great books by listening to audiobooks. I recently finished listening to Henry James’s Portrait of a Lady, which I really enjoyed.

A Dying Slave cropped 2

The Dying Slave: Charcoal on paper

I wanted to focus my attention on the face and the values.

A Garden

A Garden: Acrylic on 14″ x 18″ Canvas

This painting is based on a beautiful area I frequently visit, The Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens.

Nightscape

Night at the Beach: Acrylic on 5″ x 7″ Canvas Paper

Living in a coastal area allows me to experience different types of environments. Most of my art depicts water, but this is my first true night scene.
