Egrets Arrive: Oil on 12″ x 16″ Canvas

Egrets at Tripplet Park Watermarked.jpg

I decided to take a break from painting recently, but I am back to it again! As much as I love landscapes and painting, I am thinking of going back to charcoal for a bit and focusing on portraits.

“Look Down” Acrylic on 12″ Circular Canvas

“Look Down,” for me, is about exploring and discovery.  It takes on a playful perspective and calls us to see the world in child-like manner. Sometimes we become distracted with our own thoughts and fail to notice the beauty around us.  The model for this painting is my daughter, and, of course, she was delighted to hear that it will be featured in a selected group exhibition at Sulfur Studios in Savannah, GA from March 21st to April 6th.

Underwater Garden: Oil on 16″ x 12″ Panel

Underwater Garden framed.jpg

I’m simply just drawn to water. As someone with a background in environmental science who lives near the coast, I appreciate coastal ecosystems and all the life and beauty it offers. This painting is special to me especially in a time when coral reef ecosystems are being threatened by the warming waters and increased CO2 emissions.

This painting is currently in Deep South Photopoint Gallery in Richmond Hill, GA for a juried art exhibition from June 28th until September 8th.

Impression: Acrylic on 18″ x 24″ Canvas

I decided to loosen up today and go with acrylic rather than oil. I have a few canvases and panels I am painting over and I feel that acrylic works best at covering up the textures underneath. I used my biggest brush and then used a small brush at the very end. I wanted a more expressionistic Monet-like painting, with a touch of Realism.
